Harriet Jinjur: The Gold of Gods

IN THE GAME OF LIFE, THERE ARE ONLY BUMBLERS! 

Veximus Black, the Academy merchant who makes his living in the attic, is forced to look after the school's reluctant student, Harriet Jinjur, for this weekend's detention, which includes chaperoning a young girl on holiday who wishes to see every inch of the Academy Grounds.

What they don't know is that she's the somewhat-rich niece of one of the Overlookers in the Chartreuse Lights, a group of taciturn gods who spend their time playing games. And while she's not in league with any of them, she's still to blame for whisking Veximus and Harriet away beyond the Meadow of Leisure and below.

Now, the merchant and the student must deal with wood-nymphs, financial goblins, grizzly guards, Stymphalian wardens, Hong Kong's skilled young assassin , and a massive eldritch centipede.

But as the game goes on from above the Grounds, the narrative soon gets away from the Aunt and the Mister Woodsman as the goal turns into an offering much more deadly for the three pawns.
